There is a rug for every taste and style. We weave in three different materials: cotton, wool-felt and wool-yarn. All our rugs are hand woven on traditional Swedish floor looms. Our cotton and wool felt collections, Vandra Cotton and Vandra Wool are woven with a classic Scandinavian rag rug technique. We work with a wide range of patterns in our rug collections, created by the interlacing of linen yarn.
We weave rugs of all sizes, although individual rugs are restricted by the size of the loom to a width of 6 meters and a length of 17 meters. We can accommodate larger spaces by sewing several rugs together.
Our rugs have a long life and many customers say they can always find a place for their rug, even when they move. You will feel the difference when you walk on a rug from Vandra Rugs, it is tightly woven and durable.
In our Vandra cotton collections each rug is woven from the purest cotton, creating a soft but durable surface. The combination of cotton and interwoven linen yarn ensures that our rugs stay firmly in place on the floor. Our extensive collection of fabrics and our affiliation with professional dying companies enables us always to weave in your favourite colours. Our colour catalogue has more than 200 tones to choose from. The rug can of course be woven in one colour scheme, but a rug woven with two or three close shades in a colour spectrum gives extra life and lustre.
Wool – Wool-felt
In our Vandra Wool collection we weave in the highest quality Italien felt fabric, with a mix of 80% wool 20% polyamide. The combination of wool felt and linen yarn gives a soft, warm, luxuries feeling. The wool felt is offered in approximately 150 different colours and shades. Some of the felts have only one colour in it but some is a mix of shades giving the textile depth and lustre. Thus by choice of wool felt fabric one can achieve different looks. One can also as in our cotton collection weave with two or three close shades in a colour spectrum to give extra life.
Carpathian – wool yarn
The Carpathian Collection is inspired by the beauty of the Carpathian mountains and the coziness and warmth found inside the traditional Carpathian houses called ”Kaliba”. In this collection the rugs are handwoven of wool yarn. The choice of natural colours is enriched by the wide range of weaving patterns and different colours of linen warp. The wool yarn comes in browns, off-white and blacks as the colours of the Carpathian sheep. In addition we offer the wool yarn in a range of beautiful solid as well as melanged colors.
