Details – textiles and other exciting ideas

Most of our rugs are woven from cotton with a linen yarn but leather, high-quality wool, silk and faux suede are some of the other textiles we use. Using non-cotton materials give the rug a different character and can be an exciting and attractive alternative for special places and settings. Different textiles can also be combined in a rug, such as cotton fabric with woollen yarn. Several rugs can be sewn together; this way the beautiful linen stiching creates a new effect. The warp yarns can be replaced by cotton fabric to create stripes and checks. Using small pieces of fabric in contrasting colours, we can simulate eggshell or birch bark. Linen yarn can replace fabric in parts of the rug to create a three-dimensional effect. One can create a soft transition from one colour to another by gradually changing fabric.
