Sustainability
With care and intention at every step, Vandra Rugs is committed to sustainable practices that show respect for both people and the planet
Planet
We aim to minimise our environmental impact at every stage of the rug-making process. All our rugs are made to order, and while we keep stock of our most frequently used colours, most are dyed only upon receiving an order. This ensures we avoid surplus production of both rugs and materials, reducing waste and preserving natural resources.
Additionally, we repurpose leftover materials to create new rugs. Most importantly, Vandra Rugs are crafted with high-quality materials and timeless design, ensuring they are cherished and used for decades—finding new homes time and time again.
"Consciousness is woven into every Vandra Rug—from minimising waste to crafting timeless designs that last for generations."

We are committed to offering sustainable choices and proudly provide undyed, uncoloured, and unbleached rugs. Within our Wool Collection, we offer 6–8 naturally undyed shades, allowing customers to choose an option that reduces water and chemical use while preserving the wool’s natural beauty. For our Cotton Collection, we offer uncoloured and unbleached alternatives for a more eco-friendly choice.
People
The Vandra Rugsweaving atelier was founded in southern Ukraine in 2007. In the summer of 2022, following the Russian invasion, the atelier and its weavers were relocated to the Carpathian Mountains in western Ukraine. The new premises were established in the safer city of Kosiv.
The atelier primarily employs women, both as weavers and in managerial roles, and regularly organises training courses—both to enable more women to become weavers and to help existing weavers further develop their skills. The atelier maintains close ties with the local community and collaborates daily with the National Ukrainian Arts and Crafts College, based in the city.
“Weaving at Vandra Rugs empowers women, providing skills, independence, and opportunities to support their families.”

As employees at the atelier, the women are able to send their children to university, afford medical treatments, and support their daily lives. Working for a company that exports to the West also provides them with exposure to new cultures and perspectives.
The atelier is dedicated to empowering its employees by teaching a craft, creating job opportunities, offering an international outlook, and enabling weavers to become the primary breadwinners for their families.
Today, around 45 weavers are involved in production, and the atelier has grown into one of the region’s most important exporters to the West. Vandra Rugs takes great pride in the skill and dedication of the weavers, whose unwavering belief that nothing is impossible, always striving to exceed clients’ expectations.
