Weaving Patterns

We create rugs with a wide range of weaving techniques. Some of them are very recognized such as Diamond Twill, Herringbone, Single Weave, Draell, Rosepath. Some are preferred depending on the country or region, like Double Weave pattern in Sweden. We love to experiment and to learn new pattern from different countries and combine traditions with new approach.

You can model your rug using preferable technique and selected colour of the linen yarn.

There are no limitations in using any type of weaving technique for different materials (cotton, wool felt, wool yarn), but there are some points that you should pay attention to selecting the certain weaving technique for certain materiel.

Names of weaving techniques and short description of them:

Diamond Twill is created by side-by-side diamonds. Enlarging Diamond Twill creates another version. Diamond Twill can also be woven in two different colours for a very detailed impression.

Herringbone can be woven vertically or horizontally. The herringbones can be enlarged or decreased creating completely different patterns.

Single Weave produces the thinnest rugs and is also the pattern long associated with the traditional rag rugs used in summer cottages and kitchens in Sweden. The stripes and effects of single-weave rugs can be endlessly varied. Single Weave and Rose Path can be combined in the same rug. Another beautiful effect is created in Single-weave rugs by replacing some of the vertical yarns with cotton fabric. This produces vertical stripes or checks in the rug.

Rosepath is a beautiful, age-old pattern that lends texture and character to a rug. It has a front and a back side. Weaving with two different-coloured fabrics creates a pattern with petals around the heart of a flower.

Draell is a double-weave technique, producing a characteristic long and narrow check or striped pattern with a front and back side.

Double Weave produces the thickest rugs. A double layer of fabric is used, and a pattern is created when the fabric from the different layers cross each other. Double Weave rugs can be chequered, striped or one side rugs.
