Heritage Harmony: English Embroidery Meets African Flora
The inspiration for Pendula comes from Claire Fouché’s encounter with a magnificent 18th-century embroidery at Parham, a stately home in West Sussex. Captivated by the blend of intricate details and contemporary shapes, she sought to create a tapestry design with a similar sense of elegance but also a touch of modernity. Drawing inspiration from her time in South Africa, she incorporated native floral motifs like the King Protea, Protea Aristata and Pendula, as well as Cape Forget-me-Nots and ‘Fynbos’ evergreens. The tapestry rug Pendula is handwoven in sizes to your specification up to 10 meters in both length and width and is offered in three original colourways African Earth Brown, Eucalyptus Green and Noble Blue as well as in bespoke colours.
