Vandra Rugs is a modern rug-weaving company that combines design with handicraft knowledge. All rugs are hand-woven with a rag-rug technique on traditional floor looms, exclusively using natural materials of the highest quality cotton and linen.

In the Vandra Designer collection we collaborate with external designers letting them each design a Vandra collection.

We are very pleased to introduce the Vandra Design collection by the renowned Swedish designer Monica Förster. Monica Förster has created a line of different size oval rugs called – Islands.

Monica Förster has strived to change the typology of a “Rag Rug” and design a rug both in form and as idea that works in new settings – in front of the sofa, in a larger space, as a piece of art with a function. By using and mixing several patterns in the same rug; such as diamond twill and rosepath and letting them blend together and vary in size new patterns and forms are created. Monica has asked herself – can a rag rug be oval and can one place several ones together in different sizes to function in spatial circumstances.

Once you have found the design you like, then choose which of the collections five sizes best suits your interior. The 60*80cm, 90*130cm, 90 x 300 cm, 170*260cm, 200*300cm. All the “Islands” by Vandra Design by Monica Förster rugs are designed to work beautifully together, thus one can easily combine multiple rugs from the collection when decorating a home creating an archipelago. Of course, the rugs also work well on theirs own.
