Droulers Architecture

Milan born sisters Virginie and Nathalie founded Droulers Architecture in 1999. The duo collaborate to create contemporary spaces with a sumptuous flair. They are included in the AD 100 Italy list, recognizing their excellence in the field of architecture and design. Drawing on their different backgrounds, Virgine’s in graphic design from Parsons School of Design and Nathalie’s in Architecture from Politecnico di Milan, their commissions have ranged from hospitality such as Villa d’Este, Villa La Massa and Hotel Majestic in Italy to international retail concepts for Negroni, Elizabeth Arden, B&O and Zegna as well as executive offices and residential projects in Zagreb, London and New York.

”We see our suppliers as our partners and experiment with both new and ancient materials, in an obsessive pursuit of perfection, and with the unique quality of the human touch”, says Nathalie Drouler.

The Onde rug
”The connection between nature and interiors we find to be incredibly inspiring, and this influence is reflected in the design of the rug” say Virginie and Nathalie. Onde is part of The Journey of the Empresses collection in which the Drouler sisters have created a variety of pieces, including furniture, decorative objects, and wallpapers. A Chinese-themed wallpaper design incorporating elements of nature, architecture, and human figures was also an inspiration.

What drew you to collaborate with Vandra Rugs?
While working with our fantastic fabric provider, I Segni del Tempo, we came across several samples of truly unique rugs that we both loved. We immediately fell in love with Vandra Rugs’ products, and as we developed our collection, it became clear that we wanted to collaborate with them. Their distinct culture, combined with a shared approach to design, provide a perfect foundation for creating an intriguing and beautiful product.

The Onde rug is handwoven in wool yarn on linen warp with effects in knotted pile. The Onde rug is made to order in the size of your specification, up to six meters wide.
